#New Album - September 27 2024
Stereo Beach is an electronic music duo that began during the pandemic, when everything was worse and San Francisco was unseasonably orange. Their first album, Friendship, is a collection of ambient, experimental songs written at a time when most people weren’t seeing much of anyone. Ideas passed over file sharing programs were returned with new layers and movements, then passed back again: essentially, jamming via a shared drive. As the world opened up again, they began improvising in person on nights and weekends, fleshing out a thicker sound that married modular, synthetic, sample, live, and organic ingredients.
Stereo Beach’s third album, L E T T E R S, was born from spontaneous moments: seeds from improvs, slivers of broken samples, fragments of idiosyncratic modular, remnants of guitars, and bursts of percussion all combine into something that doesn’t fit snugly into any particular genre. L E T T E R S is something warm and immediate, full of voices that peak and ebb, and songs that evolve into moments of layered, lush interplay. It’s our favorite release so far.
We Made Us
Their sophomore offering, We Made Us, brings all that together. It’s a summer album, something to listen to at the beach, on a walk through the park, or at a barbecue full of those friends you maybe didn’t see as often as you’d like the last couple years. It’s a celebration of making music for the sheer joy of making it. It was released on June 23rd 2024.

Friendship
In February of 2020, we started making music together in San Francisco. Living in the same neighborhood, literally a few blocks from each other, it was easy to meet up each week and make sounds. We started by challenging one another with random things like “make an NES song,” or “use only sounds from around your apartment.” Then we’d hang out, share what we came up with, and what we learned along the way.
